GOAT METAL continues to annihilate and slaughter without compromise! Canadian demons Necroholocaust dominate with each release, delivering ultra-barbaric assaults in the name of the Goat. Their debut full-length Holocaustic Metal Goat promises to hammer again with necrobrutality and command your nightmares—so we reached out to Plaga Negra to hear his evil and bestial thoughts!
Necroholocaust interview with Plaga Negra
MORBIDZINE: Hailz Plaga! I just listened to "Sadomasochrist" from the debut full-length, and it sounds like you truly intend to destroy the universe this time?

PLAGA NEGRA: BLACK PLAGUE OF WAR AND DISEASE

THAT IS THE ONE SONG ON THE LP THAT DOESN’T GIVE AWAY THE SECRETS OF THE REST OF THE RECORD, IT’S JUST A STRAIGHT UP BRUTAL SONG, THAT’S WHY WE USED IT AS THE PROMO TRACK, AS WE HAVE PLAYED IT LIVE ON OUR LAST TOUR.

MORBIDZINE: The barbaric slaughter continues without compromise, but in your opinion, what are the differences between the new full-length and previous releases?

PLAGA NEGRA: AT THIS POINT THESE TRACKS WRITE THEMSELVES, IT’S A NATURAL PROGRESSION, IT’S A COLLABORATION OF IDEAS WITHIN THE BAND, AND WE MAKE THESE IDEAS AS BRUTAL AS POSSIBLE, TO PRAISE THE ADVERSARY OF CHRIST.

MORBIDZINE: What was the most important factor that ended your period of inactivity? What sparked your return to the studio to unleash flames of perversion again?

PLAGA NEGRA: THINGS SUCH AS TIMELINES, NEED & WANT DON’T REALLY FACTOR IN WHEN IT COMES TO NECROHOLOCAUST, I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH THE YEARS YOU CAN’T FORCE THINGS IN THIS BAND, THEY JUST HAPPEN AS THEY HAPPEN — THIS IS THE WAY OF THE GOAT! WE DO NOT QUESTION IT AS THERE IS NO POINT.

MORBIDZINE: Personally, I find split records more spirited, and Necroholocaust seems to prefer splits over full-lengths. Is that true, or is it simply a spontaneous process?

PLAGA NEGRA: AFTER THE DEMOS AND EP, THAT IS WHAT WAS PRESENTED TO US. OVER THE YEARS IT HAS BEEN AN HONOUR TO DO SUCH RELEASES WITH FRIENDS AND LIKE-MINDED BANDS. I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE APPRECIATED THEM. WE COULD HAVE DONE A FULL-LENGTH LP YEARS AGO BUT IT DIDN’T FEEL RIGHT AT THE TIME IN THE PROGRESSION OF NECROHOLOCAUST. IT IS WHAT IT IS. THAT BEING SAID, WE HAVE A SPLIT 7” WITH ZYGOATSIS COMING OUT ON MORBID METAL RECORDS, A LIVE SPLIT WITH SADOMATOR COMING OUT ON IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS, AND A 5-WAY SPLIT 12” LP WITH NECROHOLOCAUST + OGDRU JAHAD + WEREGOAT + NECROBLOOD + IMPURE WORSHIP — JESUS WEPT VOL. 1 — ON BLASTBEAT MAILMURDER LABEL FROM GREECE.

MORBIDZINE: Many ask about “Fuck Norway,” not realizing it was hatred toward the mainstream scene, not the country. Lately, the era of sweet melodies in mainstream black metal seems to be over. Thoughts?

PLAGA NEGRA: IT IS NOT ABOUT THE COUNTRY OF NORWAY AS SOME FOOLS SEEM TO THINK IN THE PAST, BECAUSE WELL… THEY DON’T WANT TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES. THERE WERE SOME OKAY BANDS 25 YEARS AGO, BUT EVERYBODY WANTED TO BECOME A ROCK STAR. THE PEOPLE THAT ARE STILL OFFENDED ARE FANS OF THE ROCK STAR BLACK METAL BANDS, AND THAT IS FINE FOR THEM. WE LOOKED AT IT AS AN INSULT, AND BLACK METAL BECAME A JOKE JUST BY MENTIONING IT. WE DID NOT WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MAINSTREAM BLACK METAL, SO WE CALL OUR STYLE GOAT METAL WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY MORE FITTING TO ANYONE THAT HAS HEARD US. MAINSTREAM BLACK METAL FANS WILL NOT LIKE NECROHOLOCAUST, WE LIKE IT THAT WAY.

MORBIDZINE: Are there any resources that inspire you when desecrating holiness with your bestial lyrics? Or do you create everything from your own mind?

PLAGA NEGRA: THERE ARE MANY INFLUENCES. IT’S NOT EVEN REALLY THINKING TOO HARD ABOUT RESOURCES THESE DAYS, IT IS JUST AN AMALGAMATION OF THOUGHTS PUT TO PAPER. EVERY SINGLE NECROHOLOCAUST TRACK HAS THE SAME PREMISE: TO BLASPHEME RELIGIOUS HYPOCRISY AND PRAISE THE ADVERSARY.

MORBIDZINE: I’ve always wondered—what’s the meaning behind “Goatvatic”?

PLAGA NEGRA: WE LIKE TO MAKE UP WORDS. “-VATIC” IS LIKE “PREDICTING WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE”… SO BASICALLY GOAT LEGIONS OF WAR ANNIHILATING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND ANYTHING IN ITS PATH — THAT IS THE IDEA BEHIND THAT TRACK. THAT IS THE PROPHECY. THAT IS THE COMMAND. THERE WILL BE VICTORY!

MORBIDZINE: In the thank-you list of your 7” split with Manticore, you express your hatred for all religions, which I really appreciated. Many bands focus only on anti-Christian themes. Do you believe in a more general hate doctrine?

PLAGA NEGRA: ALL RELIGIONS ARE ONE AND THE SAME. THEY ARE ALL ABOUT FEAR AND CONTROL OF THEIR WEAK-MINDED FOLLOWERS. THEY SHOULD ALL BE DESTROYED. WE DON’T REALLY CARE WHAT OTHER BANDS DO OR THINK. I DON’T WASTE MY TIME AND ENERGY THINKING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK. IF I DID, WE WOULD NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE. THESE DISTRACTIONS ARE NOT INTERESTING TO ME.

MORBIDZINE: Are you coming to Europe soon? There are lots of maniacs who need to witness the Goat Metal assault!

PLAGA NEGRA: WE HAVEN’T BEEN IN EUROPE FOR A FEW YEARS AS WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS RECORD. WE WILL BE BACK TO TOUR FOR IT WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT.

MORBIDZINE: Let’s talk about your favorite sick records from recent years. Also, which milestone albums would you have wanted to perform live in the ‘80s or ‘90s?

PLAGA NEGRA: I REALLY LIKE THE - OGDRU JAHAD (DENMARK) “LP” FROM LAST YEAR, THE - WITCHCRAFT (FINLAND) TUMULTUOUS DARK OFFERTORY DEMO, THE - DEATHWINDS (CANADA) ENDLESS WASTELANDS DEMO, AND THE - SATANIK GOAT RITUAL (USA) “SPLITS” **UK ’82 PUNK AND OI RECORDS, FINNISH, SWEDISH AND JAPANESE HARDCORE PUNK, BEHERIT, AUTOPSY, PROFANATICA, BATHORY, HELLHAMMER, BLASPHEMY, THAT FIRST CARCASS LP REEK — FUCK MAN… TOO MANY TO MENTION.

MORBIDZINE: Blasphemy hasn’t released a new album in years. Has that ever bothered you?

PLAGA NEGRA: BLASPHEMY WILL DO WHATEVER BLASPHEMY WANTS TO DO WHEN THEY WANT TO DO IT. IF THEY WANTED TO RELEASE A NEW LP, THEY WOULD DO IT. WHO AM I TO CRITICIZE THEM? THEY ARE ENJOYING PLAYING SHOWS FROM TIME TO TIME — THAT IS THEIR PATH FOR NOW.

MORBIDZINE: What kind of death would you prefer? Maybe a meteorite crash while you're high on weed? Also, what's your go-to alcohol?

PLAGA NEGRA: I DON’T KNOW. I DON’T OCCUPY MY MIND WITH THIS STUFF. WE WALK THE PATH OF THE GOAT, THUS WE SHALL DIE THE PATH OF THE GOAT, WHATEVER THAT MAY ENTAIL.

MORBIDZINE: I guess some old-school metalheads now go to church on Sundays—like Pete Sandoval. What do you think about that?

PLAGA NEGRA: I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT STUFF. I DO NOT FOLLOW POP CULTURE. ALL I KNOW ABOUT HIM IS THAT HE PLAYED ON THAT DEADLY TERRORIZER WORLD DOWNFALL LP.

MORBIDZINE: Thanks for the interview, Plaga Negra. Any last sick words for Morbidzine readers?

PLAGA NEGRA: SLAUGHTER THE LAMB + WORSHIP THE GOAT
