While the local scene keeps struggling with aimless sludge/stoner releases in December, the voice of Phil Anselmo and crew blazes through from the shores of New Orleans. It was already known that Down would release four separate EPs instead of a full-length LP, each with a different concept. One EP would be heavier, another more mellow. The first one, which pays heavy tribute to bands like Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, and Witchfinder General, will be titled 'Down IV Part I - Purple EP' and will be released on September 18.
