Suzuki’s recordings have never compromised their roots in hellish, old-school, street-level metal chaos! And this one? This is Abigail drenched in punk and rock’n’roll. Once he befriended Joel, these two degenerates were drinking in the same alleys, pissing on the same street corners, passing out behind the same garbage trucks. Good luck extinguishing the boozy satanic fire that burns inside this man. Before spawning acts like Tiger Junkies or Barbatos, Suzuki had already declared with Abigail, “We are the most evil band in Japan!” Had he crossed paths with G.G. Allin back in the day, would they have fought to the death or created something so vile it’d melt speakers? We may never know. But borrowing elements from G.G. Allin and Motörhead, mixing them with Venom, Sodom, Bathory, Nifelheim, Sabbat, and dousing it all in alcohol, Abigail delivers their third full-length LP: Ultimate Unholy Death. Satanik Metal Fucking Hell!!! Picture this madman yelling that in Von’s face if he ever won the lottery—it’d be glorious.

Don’t let “third LP” fool you—counting all of Abigail’s releases, they could easily rival Sabbat’s output. It’s clear that Black Yakuza warrior Suzuki, perhaps inspired while slamming Suntory whiskey like a sponge, penned these Satanic, alcoholic lyrics before vomiting dirty metal punk symphonies and running straight into the studio. Where previous albums were pure oldschool black metal in the vein of Blasphemy and Bathory, Ultimate Unholy Death marks an intriguing change in direction. Released in only 300 copies via Nuclear War Now! Productions—true to the label’s spirit—the album contains 10 tracks of blackened punk metal filth, plus two killer bonus covers: Bulldozer’s Ilona the Very Best and Singaporean cult act Abhorer’s Profaned Immolation. Call it “alcoholic satanic blackened thrashing punk’n’roll” if you want—it’s long, but fitting. Labels aren’t the point anyway.
Ultimate Unholy Death is a record that checks every box for old-school metal diehards. Speedy rhythms slap your face with Motörhead’s rock’n’roll urgency while suffocating you with Bathory-esque darkness. The production is completely raw and untouched. Drums are tinny and upfront, sometimes even overpowering the vocals. Lo-fi riffs, filthy solos, and black metal vocals oozing pure degeneracy—this is exactly the filth Suzuki intended. With Suzuki handling vocals, guitars, and bass, Yohuei pounding drums, and guests like Jero and Suzuki’s Sigh comrade Shinichi Ishikawa lending their hands (and tasty solos), the lineup delivers no-frills mayhem.
Perverse themes? Suzuki never holds back. Opener “Bitch! Your My Angel” showcases his deranged lyricism right away: “Whore, you’re my angel / You listen to Venom and Bathory / Burn your heart for metal / Crush, kill, destroy / Witch metal is coming / A kiss from hell’s cunt / I’ll masturbate on your face”—and that’s the first track. It begins with a dirty ‘70s rock’n’roll pace before ambushing you with high-speed punked-out black metal guitars, throat-shredding vocals, and a seductive, sleazy solo that ties it all together.
My personal favorite? “Satanik Metal Fucking Hell.” This song is the kind that makes you chug a bottle of whiskey and mount your bike full throttle. Anchored by a misty, central riff, it blends mid-paced punk with thrashing black metal for the ultimate ride. Our Yakuza comrade even spits venom at posers, dreaming of smashing beer bottles into their faces. This song is peak Abigail—a dirty demo fantasy from the '80s come true.
“Hells Necromancer” enters with a punchy drum solo, then brings in a seductive evil rock riff that recalls early Bathory. But lyrically, it starts to feel repetitive—Suzuki leans hard into familiar vulgar themes. Still, when you’re listening, you might think, “Wait, is this just Bathory on speed with rock’n’roll mutations?” “Black Princess of Hell” then flips the album’s energy with a full-on nekro black metal assault. Perhaps Suzuki was paying tribute to Bathory’s “Woman of Dark Desires”—just blacker and sleazier.
“I Am Holocaust” doesn’t let up either, blasting at full speed with snare rolls that crack skulls and a psychotic solo that melts minds. “Ready For Fucking Drunk” screams party! Its bouncy riffs and raging energy are clearly rooted in Motörhead’s speedy rock traditions. The transitions and catchy heavy rock riffs make it an absolute joy. Suzuki, proudly screaming about drinking beer while flipping through porno mags, is impossible not to love.
At this point, Ultimate Unholy Death is the peak of Abigail’s street filth. Who knows what comes next, but this album cements Suzuki’s legacy as a satanic, alcoholic punk metal demon. If it’s midnight and you’re sipping whiskey in the dark, crank this loud and let the filth take over. If you want something more brutal and old-school black metal flavored, Abigail’s earlier releases are still there. But this one? This is a goddamn dirty masterpiece.
