A very close friend of mine always says, “If you’re making your second album, it has to be better than the first.” As if Ampütator heard this advice, they came back with an LP that perfectly fits this rule. Yes, Intolerance DeathsquadS, one of the first albums of 2009, appeared before listeners even more RUTHLESS than their debut. Pressed only in a limited edition of 500 copies on 12" vinyl (and reportedly never to be released on CD), this album hits like a hammer exploding in your mind—somewhere between being sliced alive with a saw and drowning in your own vomit.
The cardboard sleeve cover is striking: a dead child lying with eyes bandaged inside syringes. :D As with typical Ampütator style, the cardboard contains no information except band member photos and song titles. However, the band sticker included with the album has already claimed the most prestigious spot on my turntable. Regarding the songs, nine ultra-cruel tracks perfectly display the brutal effects I mentioned earlier.
Compared to the first album, the sound is rawer but the songs are faster. Moreover, a few tracks feature Blasphemy-style solos. While all the tracks are excellent, Gasmask Abortion, Machine Gun Sodomy, Scumpuke Warlust, and To Exterminate Earth stood out the most to me. In short, this era belongs to North American metal legends like Blasphemy, Conqueror, and Revenge, and this album is a true North American masterpiece. Respect and thanks to D.M., the esteemed Ampütator member, for the vinyl.
