Carpathian Forest - Fuck You All (2006)
Carpathian Forest is undeniably one of the finest bands in Norwegian Black Metal—and in my opinion, they’re practically the dictionary definition of what Black Metal is. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking this guy must’ve lost his mind after seeing Nattefrost parade naked nuns and inverted crosses on stage, just wait until you dive into their lyrics—that’s where the real madness begins. His voice is like a storm of shrieks, wild and threatening, striking from the shadows, and it’s more unsettling than anything else you’ll ever hear.

Alongside Abbath, Nattefrost is the only other master I would call “the voice of Black Metal.” This sadomasochistic figure continues to deliver tales of vampires and bloodthirsty horror from the Romanian woods, backed by the rest of Satan’s squad: Vrangsinn (keyboards, bass), Tchort (guitar), Kobro (drums), and Blood Perverter (guitar). Never short on provocation or shock, this crew returned in 2006 with Fuck You All—a record that won the hearts of their fans all over again. Like all Carpathian Forest releases, this album spews hate, reeks of blood, and curses everything in sight. It’s the kind of record that, if you listen to it alone at night, might just push you to the brink of chaos.

Tracklist: 1 - Vi Apner Porten Til Helvete
2 - The Frostbitten Woodlands of Norway
3 - Start Up The Incinerator (Here Comes Another Useless Fool)
4 - Submit To Satan!
5 - Diabolism (The Seed And The Sower)
6 - Dypfryst / Dette Er Mit Helvete
7 - Everyday I Must Suffer
8 - The First Cut Is The Deepest
9 - Evil Egocentrical Existentialism
10 - Shut Up, There’s No Excuse To Live

Tracks like Everyday I Must Suffer, Submit to Satan!, and The First Cut Is the Deepest take Satanism and depravity to their peak, and easily cement the album as a cult-level release. The guitar tones and Nattefrost’s blood-spewing vocals coat the entire album in filth—but it’s the kind of filth that crawls under your skin and infects your bloodstream. Credit must be given to Nattefrost for carrying the vocal and lyrical weight of the band so commandingly; it’s no easy task.

Released under the Season of Mist label, Fuck You All delivers a 47-minute Black Metal feast. Every track is uniquely vicious, and compared to previous efforts, this one is even more threatening—more purely Black Metal. Subtle Thrash influences and Nattefrost’s deranged vocals elevate it to perfection. For anyone just stepping into the world of Black Metal, this is a recommended gateway. And for the true devotees, it’s already an essential classic.

It’s clear that Carpathian Forest will continue to carry the banner of Black Metal with pride and fury for years to come.
