Göatfukk - Procession of Forked Tongues (2012)
You might think the band's name sounds "too ordinary," and it doesn’t take long to realize this is a black-thrash/punk assault. The fact that it's a cliché doesn't matter—if the result is this good, the name becomes irrelevant. Rest assured, these fukkin' black punks could soon be heirs to the legacy of demons like Bathory, Impaled Nazarene, Witchmaster, and Gospel of the Horns.

Featuring 7 tracks (including a cover of Wolfpack’s “Enter the Gates”), these Portuguese maniacs have created a blasphemous and obscure earthquake on their debut release. What we have here is an incredible blend of European perversity—black metal, punk, and thrash all swirling in chaos.

They might not claim to have created something entirely new, but in recent years, I’ve seen very few bands express hatred this effectively within this style. Another example would be the Bolivian blasphemers Satanic Bloodspraying—pure Impaled Nazarene worship (arguably even better than the later Impaled Nazarene years). Much like Motörhead, Venom, Sodom, and of course Impaled Nazarene, rumbling, grim bass tremors dominate the songs from beginning to end. The vocals are a perfect match for the band’s raw noise—the singer’s filthy, impure voice delivers old-school black metal exactly the way it should be. The riffs bleed European satanic black metal, often nodding to the unholy gods like Mayhem and Darkthrone. Meanwhile, the drummer lashes out with relentless d-beat punk fury, infusing the tracks with the atmosphere of satanic brutality and evil punk spirit. Only the lyrics could use improvement—they’ll need more mature satanic themes on future releases, in my opinion.

The album sounds like a violent clash between “Motörpenis” and “Ace of Spades” with “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” and “Under the Sign of the Black Mark.” The track “Your God That Never Was” features an eerie slow part with vocal remnants reminiscent of Attila. “Drunk, Slut, 666” is a 100% alcoholic black metal/punk invasion—it kicks your ass and obliterates you in two and a half minutes. “Black Candles Burn” pisses on you with its killer main riff and dark, catchy chorus. I don’t know if Wolfpack are aware of this “Enter the Gates” cover, but if they are, they should be honored—it’s a textbook d-beat assault. Magnificent and blazing-fast darkness rains down upon you.

Highly recommended!
