Goatpenis became one of my favorite bands ever since they carved the curse of Biochemterrorism into our flesh back in 2010. Not long after, news of a new album slated for 2011 dropped—and I started waiting. Biochemterrorism was so damn good, I genuinely wondered, “What more could they possibly do?”
Before I could even get enough of Biochemterrorism, their new album Depleted Ammunition was unleashed. Releasing two slabs of such extreme depravity back-to-back like this is far from common. First of all, just the track titles alone show how utterly deranged these guys are—and the cover art aligns disturbingly well with the overall perversion of the album.
You know how in war movies you hear a line like, “TAKE COVER!”? Yeah—take cover. Goatpenis is coming armed with tanks, guns, blades, bombs, and everything in between. They’re here to obliterate everything—man, woman, child—it doesn’t matter. They’re not showing mercy to anyone, and they’ll rip your brain into tiny shreds.
For 33 straight minutes across 11 tracks, you’re bombarded with bullets, decapitations, dismembered bodies, skulls scorched into ash. This is war in its purest, most terrifying musical form. To be honest, I hesitate to even call this music—because what these maniacs are doing transcends that word. This is propaganda. This is pure slaughter.
I expected this album to be good—but I didn’t expect it to be this good. For Goatpenis to release two such savage records just a year apart is unheard of. Take the track M110 Howitzer, for example—it’s barely a minute long, yet within those 60 seconds, the level of violence it radiates is something only Goatpenis can conjure. Every track here is equally ruthless. It’s a fact—Depleted Ammunition is without a doubt one of the most devastating releases of 2011.
