Yeah, once again some seriously twisted vibes are swirling around. The Black Twilight Circle, mostly American, has been hitting the black metal scene with some heavy waves over the last few years. This mysterious trio’s 3-track tape released under Crepusculo Negro Productions is one of the deepest musical works I’ve heard recently. What’s remarkable is that this enigmatic group was formed just this year and yet managed to deliver such a compelling EP—truly impressive.
Talking more about the recording and song structures, the first names that come to mind are traditional Incantation, with hints of Grave Miasma, Impetuous Ritual, Teitanblood, and a splash of war metal influences like Blasphemy, Revenge, Archgoat, and Proclamation. The combination of ultra-filthy, masterfully placed guitar tones with snarling high-pitched vocals creates a uniquely addictive sound.
The artwork and the mysterious music perfectly complement each other, creating a profound concept. Imagine an abyss opening to empty vaults where ancient evil and disgust roam free; cosmic crimson rays hit a centuries-old ruin, where echoes resonate on the walls with bursts of ancient malice. The music itself is chaotic, sometimes slowing down, sometimes bursting into sudden attacks, making the curse’s face even more insidious with its sporadic explosions.
Synthesizers are used sparingly in some transitions, elevating the atmosphere to the max and dragging the listener deep into necro-psychedelic agonies, making resistance impossible. This work is dense with atmosphere, steeped in cosmic, brooding darkness. Words fall short to fully describe it, so I invite you to experience this curse firsthand.
