If your brain veins haven’t exploded recently, and if nightmares from the depths of hell haven’t violated your filthy soul in a while, then chances are you haven’t yet witnessed the infernal declaration known as "Sulphur Blessing" by Sacrocurse. This is a hellish march led by South America’s Texas-based certified demon Zolrak Montes (ex-Morbosidad, Nodens), who teams up with Kadıköy’s infamous black metal filthmongers Abomination Şeytan Tohumu and Haagenti (Godslaying Hellblast), delivering one of the most savage black metal assaults in recent memory—like a greasy middle finger shoved straight up the spine.
Released on cassette in just 300 copies by underground titans Iron Bonehead Productions, Sulphur Blessing offers a relentless showcase of scorched-earth barbarism from start to finish. Alongside blistering fast riffs, you’ll encounter catchy mid-tempo passages, razor-sharp and rabid guitar solos that could make your ancestors weep, Abomination’s signature sulphur-spewing, venomous and utterly feral vocals, and Haagenti’s punishing snare attacks and rainstorm blast beats. Together, it forms an unholy black metal bombardment with no mercy and no compromise.
The opening track “Sacrocurse Temple” instantly launches you into disorientation with a barrage of sound, only to slam into a glorious mid-tempo break at 1:30 that hits like a seismic wave. Similarly brilliant moments can be found at 1:01 and 1:54–2:34 in “Command Demonic Prayers,” or at 1:24 in the title track “Sulphur Blessing.”
Zolrak’s ultra-fast riffs, deeply rooted in South American chaos, clearly carry the scent of Morboso madness. Meanwhile, Abomination’s malevolent laughter, extended screams, and guttural growls echo deep in your ears—impossible to mistake for anyone else. The snare sound in the mix is perfectly adjusted to match the band’s venomous style. A standout moment arrives in the second track at 1:27, where a guitar solo and drum section conjure a chilling and unexpected atmosphere. But perhaps the most epic moment comes in the final song “C.O.N.V.U.L.S.E.”, at 1:54, where a chainsaw-like guitar solo and riff stack on top of each other, unleashing a blasphemous anthem of devastation.
In the end, every track punishes. Every part of every track kicks your ass in a different way. There is no doubt that Sulphur Blessing deserves a place in the most essential parts of your collection—miss it, and you’ll have missed one of the most important old-school black/death metal milestones in recent years. Total destruction, relentless savagery, and as they proudly declare themselves—no compromise, no trend, only old school madness!
